I’ve done both types of trips and I’ve got to say, I always prefer to be gone for an entire semester and here’s why.

Flights are exciting, but can also be really long...especially with layovers.

When I come home from being abroad, I’m always a little bit sad. 

Ugh, going through customs and immigration has to be the worst part about traveling…okay, maybe going through customs and immigration AND leaving after a whole semester living in the Caribbean or Africa. Yeah, that’s definitely worse.

While volunteering in Ukraine I lived with a host family. It was just me and my host parents (and their cat). I was pretty nervous ... but it ended up being one of the best parts of my trip! 

High school, what college to go to, which major to choose, getting a grown up job…welcome to the world of making hard life decisions. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather think about taking a vacation in Indonesia instead. 

Maybe it’s because they are so cheap. Okay, maybe it’s because you feel so amazing after. Or maybe it’s because that’s just what you do while living in Thailand. Whatever the reason, you just have to get at least one Thai massage in your life.
