7 Days of Reading To Learn More of Christ
December 19th
"Seeking Christ At Christmas"- Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf
This short and sweet message was in the Ensign and shares a simple way to remember Christ this season. The main message is that "we seek Him". Elder Uchtdorf shares examples in the scriptures of people who seek Him and how we can do the same.
December 20th
"By Way of Invitation"- Sister Betty Jo N. Jepsen
Sister Jepsen captures the spirit of Christmas well and shares how we can incorporate parts of Christmas into our daily lives. This quote summarizes her talk well:
"Today I am here to tell you that I just love Christmas, too. And one of the wonderful things about being members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that we make the events of the Christmas season a part of our day-to-day living."
December 21st
This is actually a Sunday School lesson but has a great list of scriptures (and questions about each scripture) which talk about prophets who prophesied of Christ's birth. It's amazing to read them and realize they really did come true.
December 22nd
"Being a More Christian Christian"- Robert D. Hales
This talk is 100% centered on Christ, who He is, and how we can become more like Him. What a great way to prepare to celebrate Christmas.
December 23rd
"Celebrating Jesus Christ This Christmas"- Elder Dallin H. Oaks
The title is pretty self explanatory, but this talk is simple and perfect for learning more about Christ, learning about the "real spirit of Christmas" and knowing how to focus on Him during this season.
December 24th
"The Fullness of The Story of Christmas"- Elder Craig C. Christensen
This was shared at the 2016 Christmas Broadcast. Elder Christensen wraps up the essence of Christmas and shares the many remarkable things Christ has done for us and what that means for us.
December 25th
End your reading on Christmas Day with Luke 2 to get the bible account of Christ's birth. You've probably read this before so try to think of new things and questions as you read!
- What would you be feeling if you were there in the manger?
- How can you share the real meaning of Christmas?
- What can you do to become closer to Christ?
