ILP has trips to send you all over the world — which country are you going to see first?Volunteering with ILP gives you the chance to not only make a difference by working with local kids, but you also get to live in a foreign country for a whole semester and explore all that country has to offer (like spotting giraffes in Uganda or wandering castles in Romania).
Join us on trips to Central and South America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Europe.
Not sure how to choose what country you want?
Come talk to an ILP representative who can answer all of your questions.
We have our volunteer’s favorite vacation spots, things they love, and semester times for each of our countries below. Get your passport ready!
Ready to fulfill your dreams of seeing Africa? We're talking safaris, repelling down waterfalls, and visiting animal sanctuaries. One of our favorite trips is flying over to nearby Tanzania to enjoy an island vacation that will make you feel like you stepped right into the Caribbean!
Volunteers in Uganda will be teaching English, which has a tremendous impact on kids in this country. Since 100+ local languages are spoken at home, but English is used in public schools and all business/political meetings, kids are starting school in a language they don't understand. Volunteers will be helping kids learn English before they start school, which will hopefully keep them in school longer and decrease the extremely high dropout rate present in Uganda.
Volunteers will also have time to help out in so many other ways such as supplying the community with clean drinking water by building springs, visiting orphanages and elderly homes, and teaching hygiene classes.
15-20+ volunteers are headed to Uganda each semester, so it's a big family group living together here.

Join a group of volunteers in South America! If you're picturing trips to Machu Picchu and traveling around the Sacred Valley, you're not wrong ... it's definitely that. But there's so much more to Peru! You'll be living on the Pacific Coast, where the sandy dunes meet the sea. There are penguins, kayaking excursions, and beach days. Peru is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world with everything from mountain peaks to the Amazon jungle waiting to be explored.
You can spend your entire semester traveling around Peru, or you can jump over to nearby destinations like Patagonia or Iguazu Falls. We have a feeling Chile, Argentina, or Brazil might be on your travel list while you're in Peru.

Dreaming about a trip to Europe that's long enough for you to add a handful of countries to your "been there" list? Poland is the trip for you!
Poland has Eastern European charm, with cobblestone walking streets leading to markets and cafes. This country has just about as many castles as it does bakeries. Unfortunately, Poland was hit rather hard during WWII, but that leaves many opportunities to visit infamous historical sites and learn more about the past. Tour places like the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps, Schindler's Factory, and the Jewish quarters.

India has been an oh-so-popular destination from the moment we opened a program here. It's one of those seemingly elusive parts of the world that offers soooo many adventures. A semester here is packed with so much more than you are expecting, it would take three or four semesters here to see it all!
We're talking everything from trekking through the mountains to see prayer flags at temples and taking a rickshaw through the city while monkeys jump through the trees overhead. Riding a camel into the desert at sunset where you can sleep under the stars. Exploring the most colorful cities and stunning palaces. Go white water rafting then relax in hot springs. See a world wonder. The vacations here are unreal.
But this isn't just India — your new home is tucked away in one of the most picturesque landmarks in the entire world. Welcome to the Himalayas!

Beaches, fresh fruit smoothies and happy locals? Yes please! Volunteers living in Thailand love visiting the mosaic glass temple, glamping with the mountains in view, and kayaking in our favorite bays. Enjoy eating Pad Thai and all the smoothies you can handle during your semester.
No matter what semester you go, the kids are always adorable and the sites are beautiful.

Who wouldn’t love a semester of tacos, beaches, and the cutest little kids? Volunteers teaching English in Mexico enjoy some fabulous vacations to places like mountainside hot springs, releasing baby sea turtles at the beach, and world wonder ruins. While you aren’t enjoying the sun or shopping for souvenirs, wander down colorfully painted streets while sipping horchata out of a bag. You’ll love all there is to do in Mexico!

Living in Romania with ILP gives you the chance to volunteer to help out in an orphanage program where you will be helping children with a range of medical concerns. It's our only program where you're not teaching English which makes it very unique.
When you aren’t helping the kids you will love, Romania volunteers check out the gems of their city, Iasi. Explore churches, castles, and cobblestoned streets then fly over to countries like Greece, Poland, France, Austria, and Italy on your vacations!

Live just minutes from the beach for a semester in the Caribbean! You have your pick from endless options of sandy beaches and snorkeling around this island.
Although you're in a popular vacation destination, you'll also get a closer look at another side of this island where many of the locals live in poverty. ILP volunteers live in a local neighborhood and give English classes to underprivileged children, many of whom are your neighbors. It's a chance to live out your travel dreams while also giving back.

We think you'll love everything the 'pura vida' lifestyle offers you in Costa Rica. Come for gorgeous coastlines, exciting adventures through the rainforest (like zip lining, or taking suspension bridges over the tree tops), adventuring in the mountains, and soaking in the tropical scenery. Finding hidden waterfalls is one of our favorite things to do here!
On vacation, see more Costa Rica or hop over to nearby destinations in Nicaragua, Panama, and Peru.

If you're set on adventure, Nicaragua is the country for you. You'll be making a difference when you're in the classroom by helping underprivileged kids, but during your free time, hike the rim of a volcano, zipline over a waterfall, or learn to surf at the coast. Nicaragua also has dozens of hidden islands that rival any Caribbean postcard. Seriously, the Corn Islands here are our newest obsession.
I cannot believe the world isn't already flocking to experience all the things to do in Nicaragua .. but you're also welcome to vacation in nearby destinations like Costa Rica, Panama, and Peru.

Found sandwiched between Fiji and Australia, we think there is a lot to love about this tiny island nation! You'll be living on the island of Efate which is the untouched paradise you're looking for, where tourism is just starting to blossom.
Turquoise swimming spots are hiding in the thick mangrove forest — some are so remote you have to kayak to them! Being an island, this place is home to some of the world's best beaches, too. And that's just the start.
Learning English is an important skill everywhere in the world, but especially for the kids on this island. It opens doors for their future whether they look for jobs in the tourism industry there at home or want to leave to chase higher education in Australia. We're so excited to bring ILP English classes to the kids here.
